Why do I paint? Painting and creating helps me pay attention. It is an outlet and a source to understand myself and the world.  When I can't create I feel bottled up. I believe art also helps others see and feel as well.  It teaches compassion and empathy and understanding -- true gifts in today's world.

In Others' words

Jessica's work as a mixed media artist takes the viewer deeper, always deeper.  The surface of her work is often complex with many words and images.  The importance of her work is that it makes the viewer think and feel.  Not just once, but usually multiple times.  Her more recent work challenges one to look at what lies beneath the surface, often in shadowy, uncomfortable places.  This stirs the soul.  The depth of Jessica's creative force invites me to look at my own dark places by showing her own vulnerability.   -- Grace
