Portfolio of Works

This series is really about climate change. Birds have become my link to everything else. It's about every parent wanting what is best for their children. It's about every living thing being somebody's baby at one time. It's about taking care of the world and each other. It's all about love.

There are times I just have to paint to paint. These paintings are not part of a series, instead they are individual visuals of my emotions on canvas. 

All things are comprised of light and dark, brightness and shadows. Simple objects become objects showcasing the internal dialogues of the push and pull we all experience. 

This series pushes the viewer to see deeper than the surface of an object and confront the complexity that is around us. 

I'm the proud mama of chickens and a feathered puppy, my pet turkey. They make me laugh and make me happy. And I love to paint them.

And I love to share the happiness.

The Birds Are Watching asks viewers to pay attention from the vantage point of local bird species, in hopes of establishing a sense of interconnectedness between all beings. As birds become threatened, endangered and disappear altogether, do we notice? Do we recognize our role in these changes?”

The paintings in this series have all been created on cardboard and old book pages, turning recycled materials into canvases.

I'm constantly inspired by nature and am surrounded by trees, birds, flowers and water. I am lucky to live in northern Michigan where it is a constant inspiration.
