When I paint I most often start with a concept (perhaps a title or an emotion) and then figure out how to convey that concept on to the canvas/board/paper. I never feel bound by traditional techniques but rather seek out the technique that will allow me to communicate my message most effectively. My curiosity and willingness to experiment is rather endless and that is how I like to teach.
My overall teaching philosophy is to help students find a personal and playful approach to making art. As an adult educator, I believe art is an individual journey. I want to help students both experience the journey and find their own way while remaining open to the learning process.
With a PhD in adult education, and as an Artist Educator for Golden Acrylics, I love combining my love for painting with my love for teaching. I offer workshops and classes both in person and on-line, focusing on helping students learn about themselves through creating.
